Safety Equipments - Glossary

Full Body Harness : Consists of Shoulder and Thigh straps which is secured to a person in a manner to distribute the fall arresting forces to keep the user comfortable and in an upright position after the fall is arrested.

Anchorage : a secure point of attachment for Life lines, lanyards or deceleration device.

Lanyards : a flexible rope, wire rope or webbing with thimbles and connectors for securing a harness to a life line, deceleration device or anchorage.

Shock Absorbing Lanyard : Elongates during a Fall to reduce the Fall Arresting Forces.

Life Line : A cable/line provided for direct or indirect attachment to a Full Body harness, lanyard or deceleration device.

Connectors : Consists of Snap hooks , Karabiners, anchorage devices that connects the life line.

Retractable Systems : These ergonomic, lightweight, robust and versatile life lines provide fall protection while allowing maximum freedom of action, movement and an instantaneous locking function if the user falls.

Fall Arresting Systems : A restraint device which prevents the user from being in a risky position where a fall may happen or it can arrest a person in a fall from a working level.

Fall Indicator / Tell Tale : A warning Flag by which a user knows that a fall has occurred & needs to be rectified or be removed from service.
